OneUSG Connect Glossary
Absence
The period of time that an employee is absent from work (e.g., if an employee is out sick Monday through Wednesday, it is a three-day absence).
Absence Request
Request for time away from work (e.g., Sick, vacation, etc.).
Absence Request History
Listing of prior time away from work occurrences (e.g., sick, vacation, etc.).
Action Reason
The reason an employee's job or employment information is updated. The reason selected should match the data change/update.
Actuals
The actual amount of the encumbered portion that you have spent to date. An encumbered amount becomes an actual when an encumbered amount is paid. In OneUSG Connect these are the payroll expenses.
Ad Hoc Approver
Individuals who are not a part of the established approval workflow but who need to indicate their approval of a transaction. They are responsible for reviewing transactions for completeness and compliance and then approving the transaction.
Ad Hoc Salary Change Request
Manager Self-Service transaction which initiates a request to change an employee's base salary.
ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on disability.
Add Job Code
Action to add a new job title to the Institute.
Add Posting Description
Action to add a job posting/advertisement for employment.
Add/Change Position Audit
Shows before and after changes on all position data fields.
Add/Change Position Errors
When running an error report, this field shows positions that failed to load upon final approval. Usually used by central level approvers.
Additional Pay
Amounts that an employee will receive on a periodic or regular basis in addition to regular pay (e.g., car allowance, housing allowance, etc.).
Affiliate
Individuals not paid through USG payroll and not eligible for employee benefits. May need access to facilities in order to perform contractual work, such as construction or consulting work. Other examples: Dual Appointment, Adjunct Faculty, Consultants, Agency Temps, Independent Contractors, Interns, ROTC Instructors.
Applicant Tracking System
Software application that enables the electronic handling of recruitment and hiring needs (e.g., Careers).
Approval Workflow
Allows transactions to flow through a defined workflow before the data is committed to OneUSG Connect, potentially reducing the need to route paper approvals.
Assign Work Schedule
Creates a personal work schedule for an employee. The schedule is usually comprised of the days worked and the hours worked (e.g., Monday to Thursday 10 hours per day = Schedule ID E400010MTWR).
